JON Lovett, a former administration speechwriter for Barack Obama, has been cast in the upcoming season of Survivor.
The casting choice for Survivor Season 47 left viewers in shock after Lovett, 41, was seen in the reality show’s newest trailer.

The longtime survival series, led by Jeff Probst, will be coming to CBS this fall once more.
Lovett was rumored to be on the upcoming season before his colleague Jon Favreau seemingly confirmed his inclusion on X, formerly Twitter.
Lovett wrote speeches in the Obama administration for three years, working closely with Favreau at the time.
Favreau quote tweeted Survivor’s promo and added the text, “What did I tell you? Eat Pray Lovett.”
The Pod Save America co-host was featured mid-way through the new promo, where he joked about being cast on the survival series.
“I have no outdoor skills. What am I doing here? I went camping as a cub scout, I threw up and went home,” he said.
DO WE LOVE-TT?
Fans were stunned to see the podcast host in the video, with many leaving their reactions on X.
“I’m sorry — was that Jon Lovett???” one person questioned.
“What the hell is Lovett doing on survivor?!?!? I’m shocked,” a second wrote.
“Eat, pray, Lovett! (Citing Favreau) My shoulders need nonsense. This can’t be real,” a third said.
“WOW. I think Lovitt is the only one acknowledging the challenge. The rest were so full of themselves. Plus, will Obama be campaigning for him? He’s got Obama to be the lead in his social media campaign, right?” a fourth tweeted.
“OMG @AyshaLikeAsia and @jonlovett ????? My podcast worlds colliding. I am literally stunned. I’m speechless,” another said, mentioning Aysha Welch, who covers Survivor on Rob Has a Podcast.
“JON LOVETT WHAT THE F**K,” someone else exclaimed.

The new teaser aired at the end of Wednesday’s finale episode as Kenzie was named the Season 46 champion.
Ahead of the new season premiere this fall, host Jeff spoke with Entertainment Tonight about what’s to come.
“We are very excited to bring our fans another season of Survivor featuring 18 new faces who are ready to take on the Survivor adventure,” he said.
“One of the most enjoyable parts of making Survivor is that you spend nearly a year looking for new players and then day 1 arrives and you turn the entire show over to them!”
He also noted the season’s early filming stage, adding, “We never have any idea what will happen! It’s their game to play, and we’ll be there to tell their stories!”
SKIPPING TO FIFTY
Survivor has also been renewed for Season 48, and with buzz already surrounding its landmark 50th season, it can be inferred Seasons 49 and 50 are in the works as well.
Jeff previously teased that Season 50 would feature returning players, which fans seemed excited about.
While shooting a selfie video at a Los Angeles event, he said, “I feel like we should just commit and make this the moment where we decide that ‘Survivor 50 ‘will be returning players.”
The crowd behind Jeff cheered as the show’s producer, Matt Van Wagenen, nodded in agreeance.
Survivor first brought back returning players for Survivor: All-Stars in Season 8, but there hasn’t been another since Season 41.
